We are looking for a automation tester based in one of our Hubs in Boadilla del Monte, Cantabria, Málaga y Portugal.

The successful candidate must have a strong background in supporting product teams, ideally within a fast-paced, large enterprise environment. They should be capable of problem-solving, troubleshooting, and effectively handling issues in a highly regulated setting as part of one of Santander’s product teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for UI and API testing using Selenium and RestAssured
  • Write efficient and scalable automation code in Java (preferably Java 17/21)
  • Work closely with developers, BA, and other testers to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Support production deployments in out of regular office hours (not frequent, but essential when they occur)
  • Execute performance testing using JMeter and analyse the results
  • Debug and troubleshoot test failures, logging clear defect reports in Jira
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders in Agile teams to define acceptance criteria and test strategies
  • Continuously enhance automation frameworks and suggest process improvements
  • Support root cause analysis and quality assurance during production incidents

Your role will be focused on designing, developing, and maintaining a robust test automation framework for a high availability enterprise platform. You’ll work closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps engineers to ensure continuous quality across the software development lifecycle. You’ll also be involved in performance testing, CI/CD integration, and exploratory testing where necessary.

What You’ll Bring

if you think you’ve got what it takes, these are the key skills we’ll be looking for in your CV:

  • 5+ years of experience in automation testing using tools such as Selenium and RestAssured
  • Strong core Java programming skills, ideally with experience in Java 17 or Java 21
  • Hands-on experience with Maven for project management and build automation
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter
  • Ability to work across a range of testing types including regression, integration, and performance
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using test management tools like Jira or TestRail
  • Familiarity with version control tools like Git and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar
  • Quick learner with strong adaptability to pick up new tools, frameworks, or domains rapidly

The following would also be great…

  • Experience in building and maintaining automated test frameworks for complex applications
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and API testing strategies
  • Exposure to cloud environments like AWS or Azure for test execution
  • Ability to analyse test results and troubleshoot issues at code and environment level
  • Performance tuning experience and familiarity with system metrics and analysis tools
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for validating backend data
  • Strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills
  • Good communication and documentation abilities for reporting test outcomes and bugs
  • Capability to take full ownership of testing tasks from planning to execution and reporting

Team Requirements

  • Normally working 8 hours a day between 09:00am to 17:00pm GMT (Monday to Friday) with one hour for lunch
  • Onboarding working hours for the first 30 days will be 09:00 – 17:00 GMT (Monday to Friday)
  • Support production deployments in nights when required
