In this role you will be responsible for contract & claims management, in Robotics Business Area in Spain, ensuring that the transactions being entered into follow applicable ABB Policies (including ABB corporate and business area polices) and claims are managed according to ABB methodologies. You will monitor the correct use of Standard ABB Templates and agreements with third parties; support the business in the review of non-standard terms and conditions and advise on risk assessment and mitigation strategies during the whole Contract lifecycle management.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide professional advice and counsel to ABB management across either a broad range of legal and/ or integrity issues, or within one specialist area, oversee or manage legal or integrity matters and/ or processes as directed.
  • Ensure consistency in services and advice, under no supervision.
  • Take part or assist with managing diverse change or efficiency projects within the relevant Business.
  • Manage deliverables and support innovation and automation activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and business managers.
  • Anticipate and identify legal and/or integrity issues of concern to management and proactively develop effective legal strategies and practical solutions.
  • Support and identify the most efficient way of supporting or executing L&I strategic projects and goals.
  • Execute as per L&I team or function strategy.
  • Implement Group, local and Business Area policies and procedures.

  • Ensure good corporate governance in the area of accountability at relevant business area, support implementation of the Code of Conduct and on-going integrity trainings.
  • Regularly update standard ABB templates (including Sales and Purchase agreements, NDAs, ABB GTCs, etc.) in compliance with ABB Policies, and ensure they are well known and properly used by the business.
  • Draft and negotiate different types of commercial contracts and other legal documents from vendors, customers and other third parties, including machinery and robotics purchase and sale contracts, terms and conditions, technology contracts, collaboration and consortium agreements, development and pilot agreements, settlement agreement, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, Corporate and Business Regulations and consistent performance of using best practices.
  • Advise on risk assessment and mitigation strategies during the whole Contract lifecycle management, in particular, the monitoring of the fulfilment of the obligations by the ABB's customers, partners, and suppliers, the management of the corresponding notifications under such contracts and the management of claims in the pre-litigation phase, and supporting in the defense of litigation, if applicable.
  • Contribute to develop a contract strategy based on ABB's policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy.
  • Implement a harmonized contract management process with guidelines, procedures and reporting tools, including
  • contract administration and documentation management.
  • Team up with colleagues as part of cross-functional negotiating teams.
  • In coordination with the relevant ABB Function, provide personnel training on legal matters.

Your background

  • Lawyer with at least 5 years of working experience in a law firm or in a multinational, active on the sector of manufacture of components, parts and accessories, project-driven company, closely involved in the bidding and execution phase of projects and/or commercial offers, providing contract management and dispute avoidance/resolution activities.
  • Experience in a law firm would be a plus. Sound knowledge of contractual law in the Spanish jurisdiction as well as experience in other jurisdictions/international law/market practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other usual office software.
  • Relevant soft skills: teamwork and cooperation, practical mind-set, good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Business oriented with an interest in detail and processes. Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
